WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO CAPITOL SECURITIES MANAGEMENT?
I was recruited from one of the largest and most widely recognized national wealth management firms. What impressed me most was that the President of the company did all of his own recruiting. I was initially contacted by a headhunter, of course, but then she sent me straight to the President. Anywhere else, you would have spoken to middle management and then, Human Resources, but never with one of the highest ranking company executives! It showed me that Capitol Securities really does put people at the heart of its culture.
DESCRIBE YOUR TYPICAL WORKDAY.
The majority of my day is spent talking to clients or prospective clients and their families. The biggest change is that I get to devote more time to taking care of my clients’ needs. At other firms, I was required to present certain products and complete specific administrative tasks solely for the benefit of the firm; here, I’m not required to do anything that doesn’t benefit my clients.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT THE CAPITOL SECURITIES CULTURE?
If I have a question about anything, I can ask it. And, I get a response—quickly! With previous employers, my questions were often met with: “Let me check on that…” followed, weeks later, by “Sorry, we can’t do that.” At Capitol Securities, we all have direct access to Executive Management. I can call up the President and say: “I’d like your take on a new idea I have for growing my business.” It’s great to feel heard and valued.
